Tony Simmons

Former NFL/CFL Athlete. Sports performance coach and coaching consultant. American Grit contestant.

Tony De’Angelo Simmons, as known as Touchdown Tony,  graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a B.S. in Construction Administration. He played for the Badgers from 1993-1998. He is a multi-sport athlete playing football and track & field. He is a Rose Bowl Champion and multi-bowl winner. He owned the TD record at 23 hence the name Touchdown Tony. Since has been broken.

He is also a Big Ten Champion in the 100m and 200m and 3-time Triple Crown Team Champions 1995 – 1997 which is Cross Country, Indoor, and Outdoor Track.

He is a former NFL, NFLE, CFL and Arena Football player. He played in the NFL for the Patriots, Browns, Colts, Texans, and Giants. Also, during his 5-year career in the NFL, he played for the Barcelona Dragons in NFL Europe. After the NFL, he had a short stint with the Indiana Firebirds of the Arena Football League then ventured north of the border and found the love of the game again in the CFL. He played for the Edmonton Eskimos and BC Lions. As a BC Lion, he was a part of the 94th Grey Cup Championship team. During this time, he graduated with an M.S. in Project Management. 

Tony started his coaching career in Europe and he has coached and helped over 18 teams for the likes of Elite Football League of India, the first professional American football league in India, which he coached with Head Coach Eric Slivoskey. He coached in Russia and the Russia National Football Team and all over Europe and the USA, Canada, neighbors to the South – Mexico and South America. He coached at Bluefield College in Bluefield, Va. as a multi hats coach, WR/TE, Video Coordinator, Asst. Strength Conditioning and even Equipment Manager.

Then he took on the challenge of all challenges. Coach TD Tony joined the Cast of American Grit. American Grit is an American reality television series filmed at the foothills of Mt. Rainier in Eatonville, Washington that premiered on Fox on April 14, 2016. The series stars WWE wrestler John Cena. He came in 3rd overall, second team place on the show.

When he is not coaching, he loves to spend as much time with his 2 daughters, Milan and Marli, push his self to the limits, mentally and physically, being active in sports or just BBQing in the backyard. He owns his own sports performance business, 6 Point Athletics, and practicing to speak at least 3 languages fluently.
